Date: 05 March 2000
Airline: Southwest Airlines
Flight No.: 1455
Aircraft: Boeing 737-300
Location: Burbank, California
Fatalities: 0:142

Photographer: Jill Connelly

The aircraft skidded off the runway onto a busy highway, narrowly missing a gas station, while landing. Cleared for the visual approach, the flight crew maintained 4,000 feet until on a 4 mile final. Once descent was initiated, the aircraft was too high and fast for a safe landing, but the crew continued the approach and was unable to stop on the runway.
