The aircraft departed runway 31 Manila's domestic airport at 6:06am for a scheduled passenger flight to the northern province of Laoag. Shortly after takeoff, trouble developed with the aircraft's left turboprop, and witnesses reported seeing the Fokker bank sharply left and ditch into Manila Bay. The aircraft sank into water approximately 60 feet deep.
