The aircraft [C-GPAT], on a scheduled passenger flight to Quebec City, experienced control difficulties shortly after takeoff from Varadero. The decision was made to return to the origin airport, and upon landing, it was discovered that the majority of the Airbus' rudder had torn away from the vertical stabilizer.
