| Accident Description: | The aircraft departed runway 05 at Kano's Aminu Kano International Airport at 1229 GMT for a flight to the southern capital city of Lagos. Shortly after takeoff, the aircraft developed engine problems, and crashed into a densely populated residential area near Gwammaja district, approximately 1½ miles from Kano's airport. At least 73 people on the ground were killed. |
